Day 11 - 16

Quick armor study and a longer study trying to get hair to look soft and wavy... let's go ahead and categorize that one as fail. And another value sketch.

I've been getting a lot of client work the past few weeks on the music illustration side of my freelance which is cutting into study time a bit.  I just have to get better at time management.

Day 56

Going back and doing the first Bloodsport challenge: Sci Fi Hunter and Pet.  This started out as something else but the idea of doing this occurred to me while half way through the sketch.

Day 55

Update on my "Jude Law" portrait.  I don't think this will be what I actually submit for Bloodsports - I don't know if I'll have time to submit anything if I'm going to push this portrait further.  Also, I'm kind of pumped for this week's ChoW on CA and would really like to put together something for that as well.

And since this is my Deathline Blog, I figured I should sort of touch on my progress a bit and how I've adapted my routine - the summary is this: I began a new schedule a little over a week ago that has been working phenomenally well so far.  It has allowed me to divide my time between client illustrations and my deathline work toward my career goals very evenly so I'm not neglecting either one.  There is a lessened focus on studies as I feel that I had fallen into the habit of doing studies just to do studies.

At first I was just trying to learn to use Photoshop to paint (and how to create "photo realistic" art with something other than a pencil). Now it's time to do more meaningful studies.  I've shifted my focus to more applied studies and pushing fundamentals via anatomy studies every day.
